Hackers attack Google desktop June 1, 2007

On Thursday a hacker posted proof of concept details showing how attackers could use Google Desktop to launch software that had already been installed on the victim’s computer.

This is not the first bug in Google Desktop. In February, engineers at Watchfire Corp. showed how a flaw in the program’s Advanced Search Feature could be used to gain access to data or even run unauthorized software on a victim’s computer.

Micosoft Search to search books

In an effort to compete with Google book search, Microsoft has announced that it has reached an agreement with major book publishers to search copyrighted books 

Publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Simon & Schuster and many others have reportedly signed up.

Microsoft said Live Search Books would now include a counter telling how many pages are left within the number of pages they are allowed to view, and other useful tools like preview pane 

emphasis on ALLOWED TO VIEW, input DRM HERE, now if they could only improve their core search algorithm.

Mobile Apps Market Expected to Reach $9 Billion By 2011

If I have to read another of these crazy forecasts mobile TV or mobile zxy to reach xx trillion in the year 3000, absolute junk, they cant even predict next year

Google to buy Panoramio photo share

Google Inc. is acquiring Panoramio, a website that allows people to upload and share their photos and show where they were taken on Google maps.

Panoramio was launched in October 2005. About 300,000 people had signed up for the service as of March this year, and in February the site had 4 million unique visitors and 30 million page views, according to Panoramio.

Google said it will incorporate Panoramio content, technology, users, and developers into its online geography products.

 Yahoo is the market leader in photo sharing with flikr, so this will be a move to gain ground on Yahoo in that arena
